Zeus is the embodiment of absolute power. He could at times be noble, generous, wise, and just. At the same time in many of the stories his more negative traits are focused upon. He could at times display great cruelty, quick to anger, and selfishness. He was perhaps most famous as someone almost ruled by his lust and desire to dominate everything around him.

Hera could be serene, queenly, and stately at times. Everything one would expect from a queen. However, she is most famous for her jealousy of Zeus's numerous affairs and taking out her anger on either his lovers or their offspring.

Apollo could be reasonable and benevolent at times as the god of light, poetry, and healing. At the same time he had his moments of cruelty.

Aphrodite had moments of benevolence, but tended to be ruled by lust and was known for enjoying stirring up trouble for lovers.

Ares was a savage, bloodthirty coward.

Hermes was a trickster.

Poseidon was a lot like Zeus.

Artemis was the quintessential hunter.

Hestia was the most benevolent and peaceful of the gods avoiding quarrels whenever possible.

Athena was generally benevolent and ruled by reason rather than passion like the other gods though she did have her moments.

Heaphestus is the embodiment of hard work. He was generally seen as more friendly than the other gods.

Demeter is like mother earth.

Hades is grim, but not evil. He had a job to do and did it.
